At Plumpton Racecourse, we are committed to ensuring everyone can enjoy their day with us. We strive to provide an accessible and inclusive environment for all our racegoers, with facilities and services designed to support visitors with a range of needs. Whether you're planning your first visit or returning as a regular guest, we’re here to help make your experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Parking and Arrival

  • Designated accessible (blue badge) parking areas in both the main public car park (tarmac) and in the centre of the course (grass)
  • Display your blue badge permit; spaces are first come, first served.
  • A dedicated drop-off point is located at the South Entrance.
  • Free wheelchair hire is available (subject to availability) at both North and South Entrances

Access to the Racecourse

  • Step-free entry is available at all main entrances, reception, ticketing, and turnstiles.
  • Companion/personal assistant tickets are complimentary for accessible ticket holders who require assistance. Arrange in advance or on the day by contacting our office.
  • Large print runner and rider lists can be arranged with advance notice.

Facilities and Racecourse Layout

  • Buildings date from 1960–80s, but ground-floor access is good throughout. Outdoor seated stair lifts offer access to first-floor Sussex and Southdown Stands.
  • The Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure has tarmaced paths; Village Enclosure is mainly grass with some paved areas.
  • Accessible toilets are located in the Paddock Bar, Lewes Bar, Southdown Bar, outside the Final Fence Marquee, accessible units are hired during centre-course events.
  • Raised viewing platforms are located close to the Parade ring and Final Fence.
  • Our Southdown Bar has wheelchair accessible shelves.
  • Audio Induction Loops are available in the Owners & Trainers Bar, Paddock Restaurant, and Chasers Bar.

Assistance Dogs & Emergency Procedures

  • Assistance dogs are welcome. Water bowls can be provided on request. Please keep dogs on a lead.
  • In emergencies, visual and audible alarms are used, and staff are fully trained to assist evacuation.

Companion/Personal Assistant Admission Policy

To ensure an inclusive experience, one companion/personal assistant ticket is available free of charge when booked alongside a valid race ticket for those who are eligible.

Eligibility includes (but not limited to) individuals receiving:

  • Disability Living Allowance care or mobility components, Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Attendance Allowance, or similar benefits.
  • Blind or partially sighted certification.
  • Letters from healthcare professionals confirming long-term impairment requiring assistance.
  • Registration with social services for hearing loss or learning difficulties.
