Community

At Plumpton Racecourse, “Heart of the Community” is more than just a tagline, it’s a way of life. Nestled in the South Downs and proud to be part of the Sussex community, we strive to support, celebrate and connect with the people and places that make our village and region so special.

Supporting Local Charities and Causes

Community is at the core of what we do. Each season, Plumpton Racecourse partners with charities, community organisations and grassroots initiatives to help raise vital funds and awareness. From our annual Bob Champion Cancer Trust Raceday and charity mascot race, to our charity bucket collections and fundraising pop ups, we are proud to give back.

A Place for Everyone

We regularly welcome local schools and collages for tours, collaborations and work experience. As a rural hub, we’re passionate about creating space for learning, leisure and community connection. We have been working with Plumpton Collages horticulture department to improve areas of the site and help students learn, and over the past two years, we’ve been building a brilliant relationship with the team at Woodlands Meed, visiting their college during National Careers Week 2024 and we have welcomed students behind the scenes here at the racecourse to learn more about how racedays come together.

Working with Local Businesses

We’re proud to work with a wide network of local suppliers, small businesses and local producers across East and West Sussex. From race sponsors to food vendors and maintenance contractors, Plumpton Racecourse champions local enterprise and sustainability.

Community and Sustainability

As part of our commitment to the local area, Plumpton Racecourse works hard to maintain open access routes, support green initiatives, and encourage responsible use of our beautiful countryside setting.
