Travel Information

Due to the railway engineering works taking place on Sunday, we wanted to try and clear up some travel details for attending the raceday on Sunday here at Plumpton. We would strongly advise that you give yourself some extra time to get here due to the disruption.

From London:

Trains are still running from London to Three Bridges (link below), but from Three Bridges station there is a rail replacement bus service that will run to Plumpton station.

As this is increasing people’s journey time significantly and we cannot get any further information from Southern Rail regarding timings or direct buses, we have taken the liberty of booking two double decker’s to leave from Three Bridges station (they will be run by Sussex Coaches and are red/gold coloured – pick-up point is at the Snooty Fox Pub bus stop opposite the station. Plumpton Racecourse will be displayed at the front of the vehicle). The times for pick-up are: 12:15pm and 13:15pm (to co-incide with the trains arrival/buses travel time).

For the return journey, one double decker will leave the course (from near the Owners & Trainers Entrance/near the parade ring) at 5:45pm which should enable people to catch the 18:47 train from Three Bridges.

This is a first come first served option and places cannot be reserved. There will be official rail replacement buses running too, but organised by Southern themselves.

If you wish to arrange alternative transport from Three Bridges station, some details are listed below for your convenience. All fares are based on the journey between Three Bridges and Plumpton Racecourse.

Station Taxis - 01293 611515. (1-4 people) £42.

Alpha Cars – 01342 317400. (1-4 people - £34; 6 seater £45)

Metro Cars – 01293 415415. (1-4 people -£39; 6 seater £58; 8 seater £68)

From Brighton/Eastbourne

Trains are still running from Brighton to Lewes/Haywards Heath (link below), and as the next stop along the lines would be Plumpton, we cannot run an extra bus service from these stations as the next stop would still be the racecourse. Journey times are affected much less on this route, with many still being under an hour.
