What better way to start 2019 by joining us at Plumpton for the Sky Sports Racing Sussex National on Sunday 6th January? Blow away those Christmas Blues and join us for one of our flagship races and fixtures and lets make it a Sussex Tradition!

With over £80k of Prize Money on offer and the big race itself being worth over £30k, we always get a brilliant turn out of runners. The maximum field size of 18 is often reached and what better spectacle is there than these beautiful horses weighing around half a ton, powering over the fences at over 30mph over 3 miles 4 ½ furlongs to claim the much heralded trophy? We think not many! Vinnie Lewis triumphed last year For Harry Whittington and was the first favourite’s victory in the race, so it can spring some surprises as well as local success, with the Linda Jewell trained Itoldyou winning in 2015 at 11/1 and the Gary Moore trained Reblis winning in 2014 at 5/1.

There’s plenty more going on too, not least a competitive seven race card and so ensure you listen to Colin Brown and Dave Crosse for a tipsters talk before racing in the paddock. It’s our first day on the Sky Sports Racing channel to so we’re sure there will be some innovations from them for the day which we’ll report on soon! There will be live music from the Wild Murphy’s in the Paddock Bar and some children’s entertainment.

If you want to, you can make a real day of it, there are still a couple of hospitality boxes available, all with balconies overlooking the course and so great way to celebrate some time with family and friends. There are also two restaurants available on site, the Paddock Restaurant (limited availability) and Marquee Restaurant, both give you exquisite lunches, tables for the day and great vantage points of the action.

If it’s just tickets you are after, we’ve been busy as well this summer on site and so give our newly re-furbished Southdown Bar a visit, with increased seating, a new café and food outlet (including bean to cup coffee from our new local supplier, Back Yard coffee based in Ditchling) a new bar (also serving the aptly named “Crazy Horse” from our local brewery Hepworths), it’s a great local day out.

Come with a group of you and tickets are available from just £16 when buying ten or more. All children under 18 come in FREE of charge with adults. There’s plenty of other food outlets, burger vans, coffee units and options on site so you will be well catered for however you join us.
