Sunday 7th April - Sussex Raceday

It was fitting to see a host of locally-trained winners on Sussex Raceday, with Gary Moore and Zoe Davison enjoying doubles.

Finnegan's Garden got the ball rolling for the Hammerwood-based Zoe Davison in the William Purslow Memorial Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Chase, following up his Fontwell win under Page Fuller. It was the ten-year-old's third victory at Plumpton.

Fuller, who is based with Jamie Snowden, was also on board Brother Bennett, who won the Strong Flavours Catering Handicap Chase for the second year running, readily coming clear.

Amazingly, Gary Moore's two winners were his first of the year at Plumpton. It's Got Legs came out on top in the feature Download The New Star Sports App! Handicap Hurdle, making all under Jamie Moore.

Age of Wisdom landed a gamble under stable conditional Niall Houlihan in the Handicap Hurdle. Fit from a run on the Flat, the six-year-old drew clear on the run-in and looks up to winning more races in the coming months.

Zanzi Win took advantage of the departure of Moore's Vision Clear when winning the Hepworth Saxon Sussex Stakes Maiden Hurdle, making all at a steady pace and kicking clear under Gavin Sheehan for the in-form Harry Whittington stable.

Sheehan was another rider tasting a double and he gave Strike The Flint virtually a carpon-copy ride in the SW Catering-sponsored bumper, dictating on Suzy Smith's mare and never headed.

Cadeau du Bresil returned to Plumpton with another victory in the Hepworth's Crazy Horse Cup Handicap Chase for Grant Cann, landing the odds having looked unlucky not to win at Bangor a fortnight earlier.
