Monday 4th November - Jump Season Preview Raceday

There were plenty of names given by the panel in Chasers Bar as ones to watch in the pre-racing Jumps Season Preview, while a fair few on the track marked themselves down as worth following in the months ahead also.

Penny Mallow was good value for her success in the Heart Turn Up The Feel Good Mares' Novices' Hurdle. The five-year-old hails from a family Venetia Williams and connections have enjoyed plenty of success with, and the bumper winner was victorious on her first go over jumps with a fine display, showing a good attitude under Daryl Jacob having been messed around on a couple of occasions. She'll surely win more races.

Calva D'Auge could have a decent handicap in him for Paul Nicholls following his winning debut for the yard in the That Friday-Ad Feeling Maiden Hurdle. He relished every bit of the two miles in the mud under Harry Cobden and seems sure to improve. The placed horses behind him, Fuseau and Touchthesoul, are likely to do better also.

Nicholls and Cobden were also in the mark with Dan Mcgrue in the feature John And Jean Taylor's Diamond Anniversary Handicap Hurdle, the seven-year-old going one place better than when edged out by Shambra here a fortnight ago. He'll do well when sent over fences.

Nick Scholfield was the star rider of the meeting with a 153/1 treble. The Paul Henderson-trained Crossley Tender got the ball rolling in the Revived Inns Novices' Handicap Chase, jumping much better than he had on his first go over fences here last month.

Scholfield was again seen to brilliant effect on the tricky Shintori, as the pair teamed up for a third win together in the SW Catering Handicap Chase for Jack Barber.

Two Sams under Scholfield landed the gamble of the day on his first start for Jeremy Scott in the Book For Christmas At Plumpton Now Handicap Hurdle, pulling clear of main market rival Talkingpicturestv.

Poucor resumed winning ways for Mick Channon in the well-run Tie The Knot Catering Handicap Hurdle, keeping on well under Marc Goldstein.
