Monday 9th March - Anglo-Irish Raceday
Josh Moore was the star of the show on our eve of Cheltenham Festival raceday as he enjoyed a treble. Two of the winners came for dad Gary including the improving Ruby Yeats who was impressive in the Tie The Knot Catering Mares' Handicap Hurdle. She'd looked rather hard work when scoring at Fontwell in January but went with a lot more zest in re-fitted headgear this time, travelling well close up and pulling away from Sandymount Rose who blew the last.
Iconic Muddle had a straightforward task for the Moores in the Book For Easter Festival Now! Novices' Hurdle, easily landing odds of 1-3 from the Peter Bowen-trained Le Tueur who shaped with a bit of promise.
Chris Gordon's Fizzlestix had things sewn up a long way out under Josh in the Sky Sports Racing Handicap Chase. Well backed throughout the day, his supporters were counting their money as he turned for home and only an untidy leap at the last was a brief cause for concern. It was only Fizzlestix's second start over fences and he could find more openings before the season is out.
Riviere Argentee notched up a third win of the season for Milton Harris in the New Plumpton History Book Available Now Handicap Hurdle, overhauling long-time leader Legal Ok from the last under Will Kennedy.
Bryony Frost continued her good run of form as she partnered Tambura to a fourth course-and-distance success in the SW Catering Handicap Hurdle. The mare was winning the race for the second time in three years and was never headed having been given what is becoming a typical no-nonsense Plumpton ride from the front from her pilot.
Hab Sab also came in for an enterprising ride under Dave Crosse as he belied a 25/1-SP in the Strong Flavours Catering Novices' Handicap Chase for Linda Jewell.
